Last week of confinement

Some say mummy in confinement should not go out and catch cold but since this is the last week, I have been going out everyday to settle my personal banking matters, doing my check up, and running some errands. Since I'll be stuck with my 2 boys once the CL leaves, there is no way I can leave home easily without them. There is no way I will leave the boys with my maid at home.

How about you? Do you go out during the last few days of your confinement?

Nurse last visit

Yesterday we were surprise when the nurse from government clinic came again to check the kids. It was the last visit, and the nurse took the weight again for the babies. Guess how much the twins weight now? Twin 1 is 4kg now, and Twin 2 2.6kg. Haha.....little brother is still a 400g behind his elder brother. But one thing for sure, the boys are really making good progress during the confinement.

I did not know that I have to give ang pow to the nurse until a friend told me so. Luckily the nurse came again yesterday so at least I have a chance to pass it to her since I did not give it to her on her last 2 visits. Anyone gives ang pow to them too?

Free home visits

The nurse is here today (9th day). The boys are striped and weight being taken. I had a good laugh when I see the babies are being weighted being hold up with just a piece of nappy. (Just like how they sell chicken before the invention of a scale machine!).

Talking about nappy and diapers, the boys diapers are really running out FAST! Only one week born, they used almost 100 pieces of disposable diapers already :( Looks like I must really start invest into the expenses Cloth Diaper liao, WAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anyway, the nurse will be visiting the us again on their 20th day again. Can’t wait to know the weight progress of the boys by then!!

Do you use Bentong Ginger for your confinement?

A neighbour of mine who has the same EDD almost as mine told me that she could get a supply of Bentong ginger at only RM80 per 10kg from the market. Not sure how genuine is the ginger, I called up my SIL who is also selling it. She told me that her cost price is already RM90 and it sounds so impossible to be able to get it cheaper than her.

Then I called up another ginger vendor and was told that they might be just normal old ginger. There are basically 2 types of Bentong ginger, (RM150 per 10kg from Bukit Tinggi) and (RM110 from Raub). And the quality of the Bentong ginger from Bukit Tinggi is much better.

Sigh....really making me confuse now. Wonder how much you all buy your Bentong ginger out there?

Herbal packs for confinement

Picture from Karen

Ways to get the “30-day” herbal packs for confinement the economy way

Surely most of us have heard of the "30-day herbal packs" sold by some confinement centers.
The following process of rejuvenating the womb should be practiced:

1st to 5th day Cleansing & detoxifying
6th to 10th day Firming of the womb & enhancing chi
11th to 20th day Strengthening spine & pelvic
21st to 30th day Revitalising & building energy

These herbs are pre-packed daily, so that it is convenient and easy for mummies like me who does not have any knowledge about herbs.

Jane told me a medical hall near our place is in fact supplying these packs to a local confinement center. In fact, it is cheaper to buy directly from them as the confinement center really overpriced them!

CH Medical Hall (Sg.Long)
30days: Rm220-RM2800
15days:~RM150

Wing Onn (Sg.Long)
30days: ~RM300

Money does help make life easier, huh!

It has been long since I got online assignments. I was just complaining to hubby that my online earning is getting lower and lower each month. Furthermore, there isn't much opportunity online for us to write since it is the holiday season.

I was hoping to earn some money to cover the extra huge expenses for the Confinement Lady, CL, and the hiring of maid. Knowing it is gonna be my last time to do confinement, I should be enjoying and not stressing myself like that.

Futhermore, I am going to have 2 new babies, 2!!!! Oh, I really need an extra pair of hands this time!!!!

Calling to Indonesia

I need a maid desperately with the twins, and I was hoping to get either my SIL's ex-maid, Bakriah or MIL's ex-maid, Yarti. We love both of them and we can really trust them at home with everything. So I took the initiative to call them up using the Call Center VoIP Phone Systems for a cheaper rates.

Yarti was a 30plus woman with one kid. She came from quite a well-to-do home and because she had to pay for the heavy hospital bills of her father, they sold their plantation land away. In order to get them back, she came here to work and took care of my dying MIL 3 years back. She was a very hardworking lady, with not much of complain. Every home she visit to, she will take the initiative to do whatever a maid needed to do. We were really lucky to get her but we sent her back after my MIL passed away as no one needed a maid.

Bakriah was with my SIL for the past 8 years. She brought up all the kids and even helped out at their bakery with their business. They trusted her so much that she even handled the account of the outlet. But since all the kids were grown up, she went back last year, only to find her hubby had married another. Initially she wanted to come to work again, but unfortunately, her home has been strike by the tsunami recently. I do still hope she would change her mind one day, and come back here again.

Unable to get help for confinement

Just spoke to a few confinement ladies recomended by some good friends of mine. Since my babies will be due anytime in June, it is such a last minute booking that almost all recomended confinement ladies are fully booked by now. Even my ex-CL is going to Singapore and won't be back so soon.

Initially I thought my hubby will convince her sis to come down to help, but seems like there is a slim chance she would not leave her dog alone for weeks. Just hope it is going to work out last minute, sigh....
