The Bug

I saw lots of unwanted egg carton yesterday at our Playcentre craft room. Since I am responsible to prepare for the kids craft this coming August, decided to make good use of it. Here is one, The Bug.

Materials
Egg cartons, glue, paint, decor items (paper, eyes, pipe cleaner, misc)

Instruction
Use one cup to make a bug.Cut a long row of cups and make a caterpiller. Use two sections and some tissue paper and make a butterfly. Make a spider with long, pipecleaner legs! Use your imagination and I bet you can think of a lot more!

Egg cartoon lantern

Do you throw away all your egg cartoon? Do you know it can be used to creat beautiful crafts like the beautiful lantern below? By tying a few egg cartoons with some cut out holes, and a tin cover base inside, you get a big beautiful lantern.











This is how it looks when lighted up. Isn't it beautiful?

Red Dragon

We had this craft in our PJ playgroup yesterday. It is fun and QQ wasn't patient enough to make it. It was mummy to produce this beautiful dragon.

Materials: a strip of egg cartoon, pain, wobbly eyes, and pipe cleaner, scissors and glue




Method:
1. Cut a strip of the egg carton
2. Paint them (green if you want a caterpillar). I did a red dragon.
3. Stick the eyes to the creature.
4. Poke a hole on the head area and insert curled pipe cleaner to create antenna.

Easter Chickie

To recycle the egg carton, we can even hatch a chick for our kids with it. Here is how it goes:

Materials
One egg carton up, 2 cotton balls, orange scrap paper, glue, yellow paint, a plastic bag, 2 wiggly eyes

Methods
1. The night before making the craft, put a bit of yellow paint a plastic bag. Add as many cotton balls as you'll be using (if you're making more than one chick) and smush gently until they soak up the yellow. (Not to much paint otherwise the cotton will look crusty)

2. Keep them in an empty container.

3. Cut the egg carton cup out of the egg carton. Trim small rectangles out around the edge so it looks like a cracked egg shell

4. Stick 2 cotton balls (on top of each other) into your egg shell.

5. Glue the eyes and beak (make a triangle from your paper) to the chick.

6. Best glue it on top as if the chick was facing up to the sky (like a hungry chick). This had the added benefit of keeping the wiggly eyes from sliding off while they dried.
