Improvement in study

QQ's school homework is getting harder these days. I realised that I have neglected her a lot recently as she was getting it all wrong at her ejaan and "ding xie". Initially I thought she is such a slow learner but as I put more effort into teaching and guiding her, she seems able to catch up easily and learn quicker too. Even her results in school got better. Am really proud of her improvement, although she might not be the best in school :)

Lion Dance

My little girl fancy the Lion Dance very much ever since she was young. She has a mini head and she used to perform lion dance with her father behind her. She even stay up late at night now to watch the NTV7 local drama series just because of the Lion dance.

This year her school organised one during their CNY celebration. I was there too, taking videos with my camcorder with one hand while another hand closing my son’s ear!

It is indeed difficult to bring the Bumbo Boys out to crowded area like that without hubby. I even had to reach school 30mins earlier, just to make sure I get a good parking right in front of the school so that I would not have to go round in the housing area looking for a space.

Burger Day in School

Although a bit slightly expensive, I have no regret sending my girl to this pre-school. She loves all her teachers, and always smile when I pick her up from school in the afternoon.

Not only the children has got no books in their back (no homework for 4 years as well), they really learned a great deal on reading (only in school).

But of course, from time to time, they will have special projects which really amuse me.

This simple egg burger is so easy to make, and with some ready ingredients, my child made this in school today.

Ingredients: fried egg, cut tomato, cucumber slice

Just prepare everything and let your little one experiment what it is like to make a burger.

What she learned:

Tell you, not only she will appreciate and eat the food they made herself, it would really makes her proud by being able to prepare such wonderful meal.

Back to school

After a long holiday, QQ is back to school again today. Although she was a bit reluctant this morning, it wasn't so bad as I anticipated. She woke up just in time, without much fuss and went to school without any tear. I hope she is really getting use to the schooling routine and understand her daily responsibility to school even though after the arrival of her two little brothers soon.

Today is Friday

My girl again asked me this morning, if she needs to go to school today.

Thank goodness it is already Friday, so I told her its the last day of school and tomorrow will be a holiday for her, her working father and also her teachers.

I hope she will have a smooth progress on this coming Sunday, when she has to go to school the next day again!

Chap Goh Mei Celebration in Pre-school

This morning there is a Chap Goh Mei celebration in my girl's pre-school. All parents are invited to attend this little party and there are some small performance by the little children. My girl were in tears since I was there with her (manja la, i think), sigh....

At least she looked forward to school this morning as compare to the previous day. Smart idea to attract parents and kids to school yeah!!

Love and Choc from my sweet heart

My girl created this in school on 14th Feb, 2008 for us, with the help from her class teacher in school. Paying $270 per month, this school really got many ideas how to make the parents happy yeah...!!

Of course, it really makes me and hubby happy. When I went to picked up my girl from school, she entered the car by saying, "Mummy, Daddy, I love you" ..so sweet la......

When her father came back, she gave us both eat the chocolate...hmm...so sweet!!!!!!!!

The Benefits of Pre-school

Ever since my girl attended pre-school, she has been amusing us with what she learn daily in school. Her English improves tremendously as we only communicates in Mandarin at home, and she could even learn some new songs just a few days in school.

This afternoon while I was preparing her to sleep, she even amuse me by asking me,

"May I go to the toilet, please?"

Although she still sob in some mornings, she definitely enjoys herself in school.

Oh...how fast my girl has grown....

End of First Week

Today we are moving into the end of the first week of school.

And yet, this morning, my girl cries when left her there. I wonder how long would she needs to take to adjust her days for school. Although she seems fine after I left, I just couldn't help but wonder if it is waking up in the early morning is what she hates about school. Probably it is also my fault not to train her sleep early each night.

Sigh.....hope this madness could end very soon!

First day alone in school

Finally we made it the first day!

Although teacher had to drag my girl out of car for school today, surprisingly she take it quite well and after crying for a while, she settled down. I was there peeping her from the window and notice she followed her class teacher everywhere she went. It doesn't seem a bad idea just throw and go yeah...haha.....

But I do notice some 3 year old kids really can't take it well and cry throughout the whole day. Guess it must be heart throbbing for the parents to hear their child cried like that :(

To me, I still think it is not a wise choice to start school for kids who are too young, if possible.

1st day Meal Break

After some trailing activities, the children gets a short break in school today. The school serves sausage and bake beans to the children in school today. My girl enjoyed her meal, and glad to see her finish her beans, although she has not been eating it at home. After the meal, each child was served a cup or warm milo.

Wonder what they are going to serve tomorrow. Can't wait for the second day trial :)

Christmas Tree Picture

This is an easy way for the kids to draw a Christmas tree during the play session. Besides it is easier to trace the ornaments, this tree can be decorated with color too. If you love to print this, you can download this picture here.

Warming up with the kids

Circle Time

First activity the teacher did in school with the kids today is to sing (doing some warm up greeting with the kids). It is also fairly important to capture the attention of the kids and one way to do it is of course, through singing.

Related songs they sang are:
1. Good morning children-teacher
2. Hello, what is your name
3. How are you, thank you.

The teachers then followed the session by a short story telling. Teacher Maureen today used a big book and presented an interesting story to the kids about "Rain".

First Day at School, Again

My gal starts her second trial in another pre-school again today. I had to accompany her throughout the whole session so that she will not get scared and hate school again this time.

I find some little interesting sessions her teachers did with her and would like to do it at home with her too. Will come up with some postings on interesting activities which can be done at home.

Check it out...

Is she prepared to go to Pre-school?

Getting ready my girl for her first day to school isn't easy. However here are some 'homework' I have done hoping for the best and smooth transition for her. Some signs to check out if a kid is ready:

1. Ability to interact with other children, either in game or imaginary play
2. Able to communicate her needs verbally
3. Corperative, and able to take instruction.
4. Able to play physically without hurting herself.
5. Be part of the group

Visiting to pre-school

Before I decided to enroll my girl into pre-school, I did a survey by visiting some of the pre-schools in the neighbourhood. Besides wanting to find out more about the school, it is a great chance for me to expose my girl by bringing her along in those visits. I feel that it is equally important to walk my girl through the classroom, let her experience the play area, and meet the teachers. Familiarity is very important to a child so that she can at least have an idea what to expect before mummy leaves her alone at the school on the first day.

Places and activities to join before pre-school

Activity participation such as playgroups, and group conducted music class is one way of getting the kids into their social circles. My girl started attending playgroup early of this year, but I notice she still hasn't learn to be independent without having me to be around. Recently I enrolled her into a musical movement class, with some instruction followed and discipline required through the games conducted by the conductor. I see some improvement in her, at least she now understand instruction and able to play in a group (without me involve).

I do hope that she will soon be able to:
1. Daring to express herself in the public
2. Successfully playing in groups without having me around
